ABOUT
This unique virtual reality game is being created and developed by one person. I quit my day job in order to focus 100% of my time towards this passionate project, and spent most of the 2020 year polishing the climbing mechanics and building the content for the public demo that is now available for free on Steam. MAKING OF
Shown here are some of the fun videos I captured during the making of the demo while developing the climbing system and hand physics. Although I’m quite happy with the final result, there is always room for improvement. It’s possible to pick up objects in the environment right now solely by friction, but I eventually want to add true grabbing and throwing of items. This was not a priority for the demo because it’s not necessary to play the game - but it’s fun and one of the first things everyone tries to do in VR, so it will be added soon!

THE FUTURE
The final game will feature around 9 of these giant robots, each with their own unique function and place on this strange planet. Each of these locations will also have a special piece of technology for the player to acquire and equip (like the laser weapon featured in the demo). These robots and locations may be visited and completed in any order the player wishes, but the special technologies will make certain areas or challenges easier to complete. A couple of examples: There will be a minefield for the player to navigate where the mines may be barely visible to the eye, but a “detector” technology will display them in the waypoint HUD. Another robot will be covered with small electronic parasites that must be pulled off and destroyed. An equipped technology will display a hologram map on the player’s wrist of the giant robot they are climbing, with each location of these parasites.
